We cannot accept this
This little girl and her friends face this soul destroying reality every day of their lives. These are some of the “Brick Kiln” children we are trying to send to school.
These children are child laborers (slaves). They and their families are held under bonded labor agreements. This basically means their freedom has been taken from them. They are “owned”, they are a commodity.
Modern day slavery (human trafficking) is prolific, it is a thriving industry
It is unbelievable that in this day and age there are over 30m slaves, and over 1m of these are children. This is NOT OK, and we all need to do our bit to change this.
The Mercy Tree is trying to help 600 of these kids by supporting their education by providing their school books.
A little loaf of bread to fill a hungry belly
This was a good day, the children each got a small loaf of bread and a drink during a visit from Rubina who runs The Miracle School.
The vision of The Miracle School Ministry is to provide free education, medical care, food, books and clothes to these extremely vulnerable and deserving children.
Please help us buy their books
Our role in this is the books. We at The Mercy Tree work relentlessly to raise funds and awareness to provide these children with their school books. Without books, they cannot learn, the books are a lifeline, turning their hopeless and depressing circumstances into lives of purpose, hope and understanding, a life where they stand a chance of making it out of these appalling conditions. Slavery is actually illegal all over the world, but a slave owner statistically has more chance of being struck by lightening than being imprisoned in South Asia.
Remember these kids at Christmas
Please remember these children this Christmas, we only need £10 (kr100) to buy a complete set of books for a child for a year of schooling. If you would like to become a regular supporter and purchase a piece of our fundraising puzzle for £5 (Kr 50) per month, please click here to see the bank details for your transfer.
Donations extremely welcome
We are also extremely grateful for one-off donations, no amount is too small (or too large!) it is not possible to emphasize how much good you can do with a donation of any amount.
Thank you for helping us give these kids the means to freedom.
